Corporate Mindfulness 'Brand Aid'

Situation

A very large Marketing and Public Relations practice was in need of some mindfulness training to assist them in focussing their wild, creative energy to maximise the talent of their people and deliver to their client’s high quality and turnaround expectations.

 

After surveying the field, they decided to engage a consultant for their Sydney team, and insisted on a local consultant for their Melbourne team in order to keep costs to a minimum. In Melbourne the work was performed by Emerge Consulting.

 

Implementation

The Corporate Mindfulness training consisted of four 1 ½ hour workshops, each a week apart with the group practicing mindfulness for 10 minutes every day in-between workshops. The three themes of Mindfulness which were customised for the client included:

  • Clear goals and presence
  • Clear priorities and patience
  • Clear planning and kindness

 


1st Workshop - Working with Mindfulness

  • What is mindfulness, how to stop multitasking and apply the rules of mental effectiveness.
  • Application of the Mindfulness practice to learn and experience the technique.

 


2nd Workshop - Clear Goals and Presence

Preparation by way of a 10 min session per day to practice mindfulness as a team, then focus on:

  • Clear Goals: mindfulness to help define goals that are uniquely important at work and play
  • Presence: shifting awareness to be present in the very moment

 


3rd Workshop - Clear Priorities and Patience

Preparation by way of a 10 min session per day to practice Presence, then focus on:

  • Clear Priorities: Mindfulness to help discern between being active and being productive to establish clear priorities
  • Patience: cultivating courage when one experiences anything unpleasant (pain, stress, anger, sadness etc…) via mindfulness, making it easier to handle next time it arises

 


4th Workshop - Clear Planning and Kindness

Preparation by way of a 10 min session per day to practice Patience, then focus on:

  • Clear Planning: a crucial discipline to create the circumstances that allows one to stay focused and aware
  • Kindness: Mindfulness training to help with mental fitness to always keep a positive state of mind and the mental force always to align our words and actions with our aspirations and values

 


Group:

Melbourne branch (smaller) – 7 people

The participants reported that their conversations became richer each week and the Melbourne group requested the Emerge consultant return for further sessions and themes.
